Hi. I'm the blogger who ghosted. It's actually been more than a year since I was lastly active here for reasons both good and bad and I hope that ultimately some good will come out of it all.
For the longest time now, I've had one thought haunting me. Why do bad things happen to good people? 2 questions have stemmed from this and within them lie the answer so I'm just gonna jump on it in the shortest way possible.
What are bad things?
This is a seemingly simple question yet so pivotal in how we perceive and respond to whatever happens in our lives. At times we're so blinkered to an extent that whatever doesn't go in the way we planned is bad.
Life is deeper than getting your favourite drink when you want it or getting the girl you like during a certain season in life. I'm tempted to hinge on the fact that at times we miss opportunities because better things await us but that might not be the case. Maybe nothing better awaits but it really is God's way of saving us from unforseeable dangers and threats that come with whatever we greatly desire. At times we fail to get the seemingly better things we desire as a chance to appreciate other smaller things around us that ultimately bring us more joy. Truth of the matter is it's beyond us as humans to know exactly how things will ultimately turn out to be if we take certain paths in life.
God knits out everything in our lives for our good. It's a shame that we do not see the world in the same capacity as Him and so we need a bit of faith. Trusting that indeed all things work for good for those who believe in Him.
God would never set us up for failure because He loves us so much. What greater love than giving us His only son for our own salvation?
2. Are we good people?
Often, we start asking questions when things appear not to favour us. I can't confidently speak to the goodness of humanity. For all have sinned and fallen short of His grace. Yet still, He loves us and if only we look at the bigger picture, we'll realise that all things eventually work our good.
While we're at it, I might as well ask. Why do good things happen to bad people? Well, “He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:45 NIV
I hope you come to an understanding that things happen the way the do for reasons we might not be able to grasp but all the same, God sees and He cares.
Take care. Cheers ✌️
Good Read.
However, I do not subscribe to the idea that people are only good or bad but rather an integration of the two in order to have something that is acceptable within a community. The darkness and light perfectly integrated at one point is what brings out the ultimate bad or good in the human animal- something that I like to call shadow integration. So for example, If you are envious and rude, instead of lashing out and being resentful you sit down and work on understanding how this jealosy/darkness can be integrated with the good/light that is in you to produce an optimal solution for the bad. At this point you'd have people point out that all jealousy…
